Fourth Grade Reading


Objective: To teach a variety of strategies of unknown words to gain meaning within sentence context

Activity: Students were assessed over their vocabulary words in both definitions and being able to use the word in sentence context.

Objective: To read and understand an informational text

Activity: Students had whole group discussion over the comprehension questions that were assigned to them yesterday. We took turns reading and giving “best” responses to each question. We confirmed our answers by referring back to the reading selection and finding correct responses. This serves as a study guide to their test questions tomorrow over “Fly Trap! Plants that Bite Back”

Guided Reading

Objective: To reinforce focus skills of word relationships and strategies taught this week

Activity: Students read leveled books for all learners that correlated with this weeks reading selection

Moodle assignment

Students continued working on their online moodle assignment from yesterday.

Reflection: Lots of instruction in today’s lesson, but an overall good period of understanding narrative informational text.
