FOCUS SKILL: AUTHOR’S PURPOSE

Objective: To identify an author’s purpose for writing a text. To read and understand an informational narrative selection

Activity: Students competed several online resources that correlated with this week’s focus skills and objectives through moodle

Vocabulary

Objective: To gain meaning from unknown words in a variety of ways

Activity Students took a vocabulary test over using the words in context and also over the definitions of the words.

Comprehension: Homework assignment:  Students answered comprehension questions over the reading selection “A Very Important Day”. They answered questions over author’s purpose, drawing conclusions, making comparisons, predictions generalizations, important details, character’s emotions, and summarizing. This is an assignment that is due tomorrow.

Moodle Assignment: Students continue to work on related areas that allow for extra practice in Harcourt online activities that correlate with this week’s focus skills, vocabulary, comprehension and phonics areas.
