1st hr. 4th Handwriting/Spelling- Standard 3.5 A-D, 3.6. Practiced writing the letters B, b. Pretest over words with the el sound. Students wrote words 3 times each & in their agenda.

2nd hr. 1st P.E.- Dodgeball.

3rd hr. 3rd P.E.- Basketball.

4th hr. 2nd P.E.- Basketball shooting contest between Ms. Wise’s class & Mrs. Hall’s class.

5th hr. Kdg. P.E.- Dead Ants.

6th hr. 4th P.E.- Basketball.

7th hr. 4th S.S.- Standard 4: 1-2. Standard 5: 1-3. Reviewed & took Chapter 8 test. Showed United Streaming video titled President’s Day: Washington & Lincoln.


Theme – Presidents

Since today was presidents day we talked about past and present presidents.  We talked about Barack Obama, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln.  We looked at pictures of them on the big screen, talked about what a president does and where he lives.  We looked at some of the presidents pictures on some money.  We talked about voting.  We did a dessert ballot and everyone voted for their favorite dessert.  We then tallied the votes to see which one won.  Ice cream won!  Letter Gg and number four were also introduced.  After lunch we read a book about George Washington.  After rest time we colored a picture of Barack Obama.

Reading we started with the question of the day.  We reviewed high-frequency words.  We recognized and blended the vowel diphthong sound /ou/of ou and ow.  We read words with /ou/, ow, and other known letter sounds.  (2.1c,use blends/digraphs/diphthongs) We introduced spelling words with ou and ow.  We identified the plot of a story.  We identified the problem and solution in a story.  (5.3a,retell narratives) We set a purpose for listening and identified the plot of a story.  We developed robust vocabulary through discussing a literature selection.  In grammar we identified and read present-tense action verbs.  We used present-tense action verbs correctly.  (3.1e,use present tense verbs)

Math we practiced subtracting 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping.  We did practice pages 283-284.  We watched an united streaming video over presidents.
