Valentine Party Day!

Went to the library after breakfast.  When we got back we did our calendar and all of our opening activities.  Read The Best Valentine.  Then we got in a circle around the rug and let the students pass out all of their valentine cards and candy.  This took a very long time and it was time for lunch before we new it.  After lunch we did a few music and movement activities, sang a few valentine songs,  did Frog Street Sing and Read “Hailey Heart” and letter Vv “Victor Vulture”.  I got all of the students the book Valentine Mice for their valentine gift.  I passed these out to them and they all got to follow along as I read it.  We watched a Charlie Brown Valentine cartoon while we rested for a short time.  Then it was PARTY time!!!  We went to the cafeteria and had some treats and then came to the room and played some games.  Everything went very well and the students had a GREAT time!

Today was Valentines Day!  We didn’t have our regular Reading centers today.  But we did have our regular whole group instruction.
Skills reviewed: Listened for medial vowel sounds in words.
High Frequency Words: Reviewed all words introduced thus far
Reviewed Robust Vocabulary Words:  Compliment, confer, mingle, treasure, sturdy, & worth
Story: The Cozy House
Activities:  Each group read our reader for the week & completed a cut & paste w/s about Valentines Day.
**We were very happy to have all of our kindergartners here today (both classes)!   We took a group picture & plan to use it in our video for our We Really Shine program.

In the afternoon, we had our Valentines party.  One of our classroom mom’s, Christy Wilbourn, planned the party and it went very well.  The children all had a great time!

Reading we started with the question of the day.  We reviewed high-frequency words.  We reviewed spelling words and took our spelling test.  We used the parts of a book to locate information.  (7.1d,use book parts to locate information)  We identified which reference source to use to accomplish a task.  We practiced using a dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, and atlas.  (7.1a, understand reference materials) In grammar we identified adjectives and used exact and inexact number words correctly.

Math we subtracted 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping.  We did practice pages 281-282.

Algebra 2:  Continued to work on lesson 10-4, Common Logarithms.  Pass 2.5b

Geometry:  Continued to work on lesson 10-6, Secants and Tangents.  Pass 2.6b

Algebra 1:  Did the key concepts and problems on the chapter 10 getting started page.

Trig:  Test over chapter 7.

1st hr. 4th Handwriting/Spelling- Standard 3.5 A-D, 3.6. Practiced writing the letters A, a. Retake/Makeup test over words with the er sound. We went to the library. When we got back, students read books silently.

2nd hr. 1st P.E.- Dead Ants. PASS for the week. Standard 1: 1-2, 4. Standard 2: 1-5. Standard 3: 1-3. Standard 4: 1, 4. Standard 5: 2-4. Standard 6: 1-3. Standard 7: 1-4.

3rd hr. 3rd P.E.- British Warmup Tag. PASS for the week. Standard 1: 1-2, 9-10. Standard 2: 1. Standard 3: 1-4. Standard 5: 1-4. Standard 6: 1-3. Standard 7: 1-3.

4th hr. 2nd P.E- Dead Ants. PASS for the week. Standard 1: 1-2. Standard 2: 1, 4-5, 9, 13. Standard 3: 1, 5. Standard 4: 1. Standard 5: 1-4. Standard 6: 1-3. Standard 7: 1-3.

5th hr. Kdg. P.E.- Ball Tag, Ball Dodgeball Tag. PASS for the week. Standard 1: 1-2. Standard 3: 1-2. Standard 4:

7th hr. 4th S.S.- Reviewed Chapter 8 notes. Test will be Monday.  Free time for the students who had all assignments completed.
