Skills reviewed: Identifying the medial sound in words, segmenting words, blending sounds together to make words, & identifying the beginning, middle, & ending of a story.

Robust Vocabulary Words: spontaneously, agreed, complained, &squabbe
Activities: Children practiced matching ending sounds with the letter x, reading decodable book, & “X, x” on the computers.  They also worked on sounding out words, listening for medial sounds in words, & reading sentences.
Math: Today children wrote about our 100th Day of School that we enjoyed yesterday.  Children wrote about what they enjoyed most about our celebration.  Most of the children said they enjoyed sharing & passing out the things they brought.
Pass Objectives: Reading/Literature: Oral Language: 1, 2, 2.1, 2.2, 3 Reading/Listening: 1.4, 1.7, 2, 3, 3.1, 3.2, 4, 4.1, 6, 6.1, 6.3, 7 Writing/Grammar: 2.1,2.2, 2.2a. & 2.1.b

1st hour Clothing  – seniors were gone and the remaining students  helped prepare food for today’s FCS .

3rd hour seniors gone  remaining group made a dairy product- cheesecake

4th and 5th hour FACS 1 students created a poster demonstrating ways to fight bacteria in the kitchen.

6th hour – Senior Day  – remaining students completed makeup work.

7th hour – Family Living students continued working on Family Crisis Project.

Theme – Forest Animals

Talked about bears and beavers homes.  Reviewed letter Bb and color blue.  Did Frog Street Sing and Read.  Did letter Bb worksheet.  Students cut out pictures that started with Bb and glued them on a beaver.  Before rest time we read The Fleas Sneeze.  After rest time they did a color blue coloring page.

Fourth Grade Reading

Focus Skill Sequence

Objective: To identify ways in which the sequence of events in a literary text affects the outcome

Activity: Students were assessed sequencing  skills taught this week in the reading selection, “Red Writing Hood”.

Standard Pass Objective:Standard 4. d
Vocabulary

Objective: The students will apply a wide range of strategies to comprehend, interpret, evaluate and respond to a wide variety of   texts

Activity: Students were assessed in the understanding of the vocabulary words in the reading selection of “Red Writing Hood”. Students matched the word to the definition and used the word correctly in sentence context

Standard Pass Objective: Standard 1: 1.2.a.b. 3.

Literature:

Objective: To read and understand a play

Activity: Students completed moodle assignments that provided additional practice in the reading and understanding of a play and fairy tales.

Standard Pass Objectives: Standard 4: 1.a.b. 2. a.b.c.d

Reflection: This week’s vocabulary words proved difficult for many students. As we progress in our reading curriculum and studies, the content and vocabulary will increase in difficulty. Students need encouraged to spend more time on additional practice, re-reading passages and using the words in everyday conversational opportunities.


4th Math-  Find the product by using different methods.  Explored using mental math, pencil and paper, and calculators to solve multiplication problems.  Assigned 10-3 in workbook.

4th Language-  Finished our lesson on compare and contrast.  Assigned workbook page 42.

4th Science-  Finished reading chapter 1C lesson 4.  Explored how the national weather service helps keep people safe.  We checked our weather forecast on the internet.  Assigned workbook lesson 3 and 4.

1rst hour- I handed out district show entry forms and talked to the students about how we are going to feed their animals for the next thirty days.

2nd hour- The cuts video covered the meat cuts of the loin area. I paused the video and discussed certain cuts. I also reviewed why the loin area produces the most tender and best tasting meat.

3rd hour- Students took the second Specie & Gender test.

5th hour- I watched and helped students run beads.

6th hour- Shop

1st hr. 4th Handwriting/Spelling- Standard 3.5 A-D, 3.6. Practiced H.W. W.S. Counting Off the Days. Discussed character quote- Attitude. Test over changing y to i & then adding the ending. I have several who have to retake tomorrow. We went over W.S. 70.  W.S. 71-72 was due.

2nd hr. 1st P.E.- Dodgeball.

3rd hr. 3rd P.E.- Basketball.

4th hr. 2nd P.E.- Practiced dribbling a basketball.

5th hr. Kdg. P.E.- Practiced dribbling a basketball.

6th hr. 4th P.E.- Basketball.

7th hr. 4th S.S.- Standard 1: 1-3. Finished working on W.S. 1-14  from yesterday. Assigned W.S. 40-41.
